Education (Ad)Ventures

In 2022, I was appointed Chancellor of the University of Reading. It is an honour to be able to give back not only to the university that supported me as I grew Ella’s Kitchen but also is the greenest univeristy in the UK and has a global reputation for its climate and environmental research.

I am privileged to also have been acknowledged for my contributions to society through my honorary doctorates at both the University of Reading and Bristol.

University of Reading

I am the ninth Chancellor of the University of Reading. The university played a pivotal role in the development of Ella’s Kitchen through their Knowledge Transfer Partnerships that involved academic expertise from Henley Business School and the Department for Food and Nutritional Sciences. Later, I partnered with the university to deliver my bi-annual ‘Just Imagine If…’ grant, a global award of £100,000 of research support offered to an entrepreneur with a business idea that addresses a global challenge.

I received an honorary doctorate from the university in 2013.

University of Bristol

In February 2019, I was presented with an honorary doctorate in recognition for my achievements as an entrepreneur and children’s welfare campaigner. 30 years prior I graduated from the same university with a degree in Economics and Politics.

My latest book, ‘Raising The Nation’, was published by Bristol University Press.
